A SUNNY DAY IN GLASGOW
A SUNNY DAY IN GLASGOW
A Sunny Day in Glasgow is a post-nation musical outfit. Its members live in three different cities and two different hemispheres but, the band began in a Philadelphia bedroom in 2006. Back from several years in the UK, Ben Daniels enlisted the help of his twin sisters to sing on a bunch of songs he had written. The Sunniest Day Ever EP was the product of this experiment. Ben soon moved to Montreal from where the band released their debut LP, Scribble Mural Comic Journal. SMCJ, recorded for exactly no money and with one microphone, pushed the boundaries of both dream pop and DIY and allowed the band to tour North America and Europe, including stops at the Whitney Museum, KEXP, and WNYC.
After these tours the band had pared down to Ben and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Josh Meakim and the two decamped to a cavernous dance studio in rural New Jersey on the shores of a bucolic Delaware River to record the follow-up album. Over the next (very stressful) 6 months Anne Fredrickson jumped in on vocals/cello and the three finished their sprawling opus, Ashes Grammar. AG once again found the band pushing away from dream-pop convention into stranger waters, without losing the hooks.
Eager to take it on the road, the band grew to include Philadelphia life enthusiast, Adam Herndon on drums; long time ASDiG-fan, Ryan Newmyer on bass; and after a (seriously) global search, Brooklyn-based Jen Goma joined up and A Sunny Day in Glasgow was truly born. This group went on to release The Nitetime Rainbows EP, spent the better part of the next year touring North America and Europe (culminating with a show at Primavera), and capped it all off by releasing Autumn, Again (recorded while on tour), in October of 2010
The week following Ashes Grammar's 2009 release saw Ben move to Sydney, Australia, and with Jen and Ryan calling Brooklyn home, the distance added challenges to the writing process, but recording of the new album began in December 2011 at Jeff Zeigler's Uniform Recording studio. After some twists and turns and an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign, Sea When Absent was completed by September 2013. Fueled by this truly overwhelming support from their fans, A Sunny Day in Glasgow can't wait to send it out to the world via Lefse Records in 2014.

THE HILL IN MIND
The Hill in Mind is five folks who perform original music. Sometimes sounding like an angry dumpster band, a group of Qawwali Screamers, or an action movie in slow motion, THiM seeks to roll you down a hill of sound (without breaking your crown).
